About This Project

This table was made as a experiment for the Beijing design week september 2013. The theme was to make a object out of 20mm x 20mm compressed bamboo rods. I designed this table to use those rods in combination with a underlying steel structure.

The basic mechanism of the table was borrowed from the Theo Jansen strand beasts . A lot of models were made out of abs to test the movement of the actual mechanism .. The models are powered using small geared dc motors.. But the actual table was designed to be moved just by pushing it.

unfortunately we ran out of time and were unable to make the actual table before the exhibition..

The images of the table were exhibited at the exhibition though.
